Greetings DSpace! We are pleased to announce the release of DSpace 7.3. As the fourth 7.x release in the last year, we, the community, are committed to provide timely updates to provide new features, security & bug fixes to the 7.x platform.
The 7.3 release meets our 7.x technical roadmap <https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSPACE/DSpace+Release+7.0+Status#DSpaceRelease7.0Status-Whatfeaturesarecominginalater7.xrelease?7.x> to resolve three Tier 1 priorities, six Tier 2 priorities and one Tier 3 priority. Additional donated features and improvements are also included in this release. New and improved features include: - ORCID authentication and synchronization <https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC7x/ORCID+Integration> to a DSpace User Profile <https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC7x/User+Profiles> (ported from the DSpace-CRIS project, partially donated and developed by 4Science) - Import content directly from 9 new external services <https://wiki.lyrasis.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=104566672>, including CrossRef, Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed Europe, CiNii, NASA Astrophysics Data System (ADS), VuFind.org, SciELO.org, and the European Patent Office (EPO). (ported from the DSpace-CRIS project, partially donated and developed by 4Science) - Configurable Entities now support Item Versioning <https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC7x/Configurable+Entities#ConfigurableEntities-VersioningSupport> - Admin “Health” menu allows admins to see the status of your system, including automated basic health checks. (based on 6.x Control Panel) - Validate a Batch metadata CSV before applying any changes (similar to 6.x) - Export search results to a CSV for batch metadata editing (similar to 6.x) - Submission forms support display of SHERPA/RoMEO publisher policies <https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC7x/Submission+User+Interface#SubmissionUserInterface-ConfiguringtheSherpaRomeostep> (similar to 6.x) - Submission forms support type-based fields <https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC7x/Submission+User+Interface#SubmissionUserInterface-ItemtypeBasedMetadataCollection> (ported from the DSpace-CRIS project by The Library Code, with support from Technische Universität Berlin) (similar to 6.x) - Preview items during workflow approval processes (similar to 6.x) - Withdrawn items now show a tombstone page (similar to 6.x) - RSS/Atom feeds for Site, Community & Collection pages (donated by Atmire) (similar to 6.x) - Optionally, Item “access status” badges can be displayed in all Item search/browse lists (donated by Université Laval) - Optionally, a welcome email can be sent to newly registered users (donated by IUPUI) - Oracle Database support has been deprecated. <https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/issues/8214> Other fixes include: - Major frontend performance improvements. Initial page load is much quicker - Frontend can be run from a subpath (e.g. https://my.university.edu/dspace/) - Bug fixes to submission form behavior - Upgraded frontend to Angular 13 and backend to Spring Boot 2.6 - Numerous other bug fixes and improvements.
