Hi, Yes, an email address is mandatory for all users. DSpace needs an email address in order to notify you when necessary (e.g. if you are reviewing content and new content to review is added. If an error occurs in the system, etc.)
Yes, it's possible to create multiple administrators from the command line. Regarding the "Permission denied" error. That sounds like a possible permissions issue on your filesystem (unrelated to DSpace itself). Maybe you installed DSpace using "sudo"? If that's the case then you may need to run the "/dspace/bin/dspace" using "sudo" (or alternatively change the permissions on the entire "/dspace" folder so that you can run scripts as other OS users.
