If your statistics are empty, then either one of two things may be 
happening:

1. It's possible your statistics actually are empty... DSpace will not 
count hits/accesses from 127.0.0.1 (or localhost).  So, it's not possible 
to generate statistics if you are only accessing the site via localhost or 
a private IP.
2. Or, it's possible that something is wrong with your Solr setup (or 
specifically the "statistics" core installed in Solr during the 
Installation process).

If the problem is #2, then you should see errors in either the User 
Interface or in the backend logs.  To locate those errors, see our
