Hi Rathan,

If you are simply trying to update the metadata in an existing item, the 
easiest way to do so is via the User Interface.  Or if you wish to do it in 
bulk, I'd recommend the Batch Metadata Editing 
tool: https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC7x/Batch+Metadata+Editing

This is also a separate "itemupdate" command which should allow for updates 
using that Simple Archive Format
