You can check the <meta name="Generator"> element in any page returned by
DSpace. Its `content` attribute will contain the version of DSpace that is
running. If you cannot find a Generator meta, the version is very very old.

If you have identified the sources that were used to build your instance,
you can inspect the top-level 'pom.xml' file. The POM's <version> element
(Xpath: /project/version) will be the version of DSpace represented by the
sources.

I have recently taken over a role from somebody who managed all our dspace
stuff. I was wondering is there a way of checking what version of dspace is
currently running on our server ?
