Dear DSpace Community, We are pleased to announce the release of the first *Accessibility Conformance Report (VPAT)* for DSpace. This report evaluates the conformance of DSpace 7.6.2 and 8.0 with accessibility standards, providing transparency about the platform's strengths and areas for improvement in supporting users with disabilities.
For those unfamiliar with the term, a *VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) *is a document that outlines how well a digital product aligns with accessibility requirements, such as the *Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), Section 508 (U.S.), *or *EN 301 549 (EU)*. By publishing this report, we aim to assist institutions in assessing DSpace's accessibility and identifying areas where additional support may be needed. The *VPAT for DSpace 7.6.2 and 8.0 *was kindly donated by *Dr. Lydia Tang* on behalf of the *DSpaceDirect team* -- we deeply appreciate this contribution to the community! Improving accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we recognize that there is always more work to be done. We are committed to making DSpace more inclusive and accessible to all users and welcome community input to help guide future enhancements. You can view the full report on the DSpace website <https://dspace.org/accessibility/>. We welcome your feedback and encourage discussions on how we can continue improving DSpace's accessibility. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to share them in this thread or reach out to us directly.
