Hi Nason, If you are already registered in DSpace 8 or 9, then you should get a "Change Password" email sent to you if you attempt to register again. You will *not* see an error in the user interface for privacy reasons -- as the system is not revealing you are already registered.
Subscription emails are sent out on a regular basis, but *only* if you've configured the "subscription-send" script to run regularly. See the documentation: https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC7x/Email+Subscriptions#EmailSubscriptions-Enablesendingoutemails This "subscription-send" script allows you to more easily configure the schedule that you want subscriptions to be sent out.
