Hi, 

By default, DSpace displays the "search" tab on all Communities and 
Collections.  But, you can change this by modifying the "defaultBrowseTab" 
options in your frontend config file (config.*.yml).  It sounds like you'd 
want it set to "comcols" to see the communities & collections by default.
