Dear DSpace Community,

We are thrilled to announce that, starting today, January 20, 2026, Lia
Eggleston has joined Lyrasis and the DSpace Program staff as the new DSpace
Technical Support Engineer.

As Technical Support Engineer for DSpace, Lia will play a critical role in
helping to ensure the success of both the contributors and users of DSpace.
Among other responsibilities, she will oversee the Pull Request process and
the bug ticket queue, contribute to initial verification and testing of
changes, offer technical assistance to the DSpace user community, and
contribute to the DSpace documentation and training materials.

Lia has a BS in Computer Science and has worked as a software engineer on
both commercial and open-source applications, most recently at EnergySage
in Boston. She has strong JavaScript and other front-end development
skills, as well as data management and analysis skills using Python and
SQL, and some experience with Java. She has a background in scientific
computing for astronomy and neuroscience research, and has published work
with colleagues at the Yale School of Public Health on the NEURON
open-source simulation software. She also has interests in data
visualization and science communication, contributing to projects such as
the Yale Climate Opinion Maps.

Finally, Lia is a native English speaker with experience living outside
the United States and an interest in learning languages. She is fluent in
Italian and has varying degrees of proficiency in Spanish, French, and
Mandarin. Outside of work she can also be found dancing, taking circus
classes, and reading comics. Lia is looking forward to becoming a part of
the Lyrasis and DSpace communities!

Please join us in welcoming Lia to the DSpace staff and community!

Bridget
