I looked at it awhile back over the summer, I suspect I may be the one  
most familiar with it and responsible for shepherding it into the code- 
base (yes, that was a volunteer).

I'd keep them updated with the 1.5.x branch so your not too far off  
from the current revision.  Note, you can probably limit this to every  
major release unless your feeling overzealous.

As for the "trunk", we are entering what I think is either going to be  
a period of destabilization or the realization that we may have to  
branch what is there, possibly with a release of some sort, (gulp) a  
1.6 maintenance branch, the logic being that what is in the dspace2  
svn project would be migrated into the "trunk" and take up residence  
there.

These are all topics to discuss.
