When the item is shown, DCDate tries to parse the date based upon it's length, and formats it as such. A date where the year is only 3 (or 2 or 1) digits long does not match the expected length of a year (4 digits), and so does not display. In terms of metadata the displaying date problem is more complex than just better parsing or forcing a 4 digit year. A metadata of the type "timestamp" like dc.date.issued might consist of: - unknown (the item has been published, but the time is not known) - 2002-2006 an interval - Ming Dynasty (i.e. 1368-1644) - a date with reference to a specific calendar (gregorian, Julian, Buddhist, lunar ...) ... So, how is the metadata and its metametadata stored, displayed and searched? There are other metadata elements causing similar problems like names.
