I think your approach looks good..the only changes I'd make are the small ones
you mentioned in your comment about "Changes needed to my attached patch".
Minimally, you might want to add a "break" once a valid referrer is found, so
that you stop the loop. As far a reading/splitting the
mail.allowed.referrers goes, I don't think that's too big of a deal, since I'd
imagine this list to be rather small (2-3 max).
