Reading the Guidelines for Dublin Core Application Profile (following a suggestion from Mark Diggory about DCMI profiles) http://www.dublincore.org/documents/profile-guidelines I feel this document is bringing very important perspectives for the work around DSpace. This document may be a basis for a common understanding of what could be an Application Profile (a data model Registry) for each DSpace repository . Have a nice day!
