Tim Donohue commented on DS-554: -------------------------------- Claudia, Yesterday we discussed this issue in our DSpace Developers Meeting. I think we were all wondering whether there really is a probably in how dates are being stored. So, using your examples in the description: 1) submission via UI with the item has been published before and a date supplied --> In this case, there should be no time granularity, as the user who supplied the date didn't enter a time 2) submission via UI without the item has been published before --> In this case, we could have time granularity if there is a need for it 3) submission via item import --> In the case, again we may not have time granularity if the user doesn't supply it So, I'm wondering if this is actually a bug or not? It seems like DS-553 is *definitely* a bug, as we should be able to properly display dates no matter how they are created (with or without time granularity). But, in this issue (DS-554), we shouldn't be forcing time granularity when we aren't supplied with a time (i.e. we don't want to assume a time of 00:00:00, we probably just want to keep the date without a time). We were wondering if this issue could just be closed, once we fix DS-553? > Inconsistent creation of dc.date.issued > --------------------------------------- > > Key: DS-554 > URL: http://jira.dspace.org/jira/browse/DS-554 > Project: DSpace 1.x > Issue Type: Bug > Components: JSPUI > Affects Versions: 1.6.0 > Reporter: Claudia Jürgen > Priority: Minor > > The way dc.date.issued is generated as a date with or without time > granularity varies in the different modes of ingest: > 1) submission via UI with the item has been published before and a date > supplied > the date will have no time granularity > 2) submission via UI without the item has been published before > the date will be set as the other time stamps but without time granularity > (this differs from pre 1.6 behaviour) > 3) submission via item import > the date will be set as given with or without time granularity > This bug is related to DS-553 -- This message is automatically generated by JIRA. - If you think it was sent incorrectly contact one of the administrators: http://jira.dspace.org/jira/secure/Administrators.jspa - For more information on JIRA, see: http://www.atlassian.com/software/jira ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This SF.net email is sponsored by Make an app they can't live without Enter the BlackBerry Developer Challenge http://p.sf.net/sfu/RIM-dev2dev _______________________________________________ Dspace-devel mailing list Dspace-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/dspace-devel
