Peter Dietz updated DS-692:
---------------------------
Attachment: xmlui-report-invalid-coll-comm.patch
Also added is the xmlui-report-coll-comm.patch will alter the community-list
page by adding "--"+numErrors to the name of each collection/community that has
invalid XHTML. (Things that would turn red while saving in the edit collection
editor in XMLUI). For this report to show you need to set dspace.cfg:
xmlui.community-list.render.full = false
I don't recommend this (xmlui-report-coll-comm) patch for inclusion into trunk,
its just an aid for QC, and in testing that the tidying happens.
> Clean up invalid HTML in collection and community metadata
> ----------------------------------------------------------
>
> Key: DS-692
> URL: http://jira.dspace.org/jira/browse/DS-692
> Project: DSpace 1.x
> Issue Type: New Feature
> Components: DSpace API
> Affects Versions: 1.6.2
> Environment: xmlui
> Reporter: Peter Dietz
> Assignee: Peter Dietz
> Priority: Minor
> Attachments: jtidy-comm-coll.patch,
> xmlui-report-invalid-coll-comm.patch

> In JSPUI the system was forgiving with an instance with plain-old-HTML that
> users entered into the metadata values for fields. In XMLUI, it requires
> valid XHTML, otherwise it junks the whole text and displays the html in the
> page, as opposed to rendering them. This solves local needs, and had been a
> deal breaker before migrating between systems.
> Therefore, I've implemented jTidy in DSpace to clean up collection and
> community metadata fields. It runs from the command line.
> == To Install the JTidy JAR ==
> Download the jar:
> mvn install:install-file
> -Dfile=/home/dspace/Downloads/jtidy-r938/jtidy-r938.jar -DgroupId=jtidy
> -DartifactId=jtidy -Dversion=938 -Dpackaging=jar
> Then it can be run from the command line:
> /dspace/bin/dspace dsrun org.dspace.content.service.TidyService
