Ronee Francis commented on DS-557:
----------------------------------
I know this feature began as a proof-of-concept and if it proves to be popular
and important to managers we would need to develop a bit more. For example
Library of Congress Authorities uses more than dates to distinguish one person
from another. They also use parentheses Ascham, Ant. (Anthony), fl. 1553 and
Aschau bei Kraiburg (Germany) . They will also use parens with dates as in
Marshall, A. Milnes (Arthur Milnes), 1852-1893 and dates with a question mark
- Marshall, Ada, 1839?-1895. Initials is another thing - Smith, Clay, MD,
FACEP, FAAP or function Clay, Water, pianist.
Just wanted to throw these out there as things to keep in mind.

> We are having an issue with LC Authority Names. When using the Lookup
> feature in 1.6, the results do not include dates.
> Example results looks like this:
> Wilkins, Abraham
> Lincoln, Abraham
> Lincoln, Abraham
> Lincoln, Abraham
> Lincoln, Abraham
> Lincoln, Bommala-Abraham
> The OCLC search results look like this and include dates. Can someone help to
> correct this or shed some light on the problem?

> Ronee,
> Do you have the link? It did not come through.I am suspect that the
> SRUHandler is not parsing off the date and appending it in the choices. We
> may want to revisit what fields should be passed through and included in the
> choices.

> Yes, its just returning one field of the srw record, not sure if its a
> problem, just not a "feature". I'd recommend possibly a JIRA ticket on
> exploring if xslt can be used to provide users with simple template
> option to set what the results should be formated like when turned in
> Choices in the Handler.

> Mark,
> If anyone else is interested, I have modified the LCNameAuthority.java to
> also display/add dates (birth/death) to the lookup.
