Jim Ottaviani commented on DS-164: ---------------------------------- Hello all. Valorie suggested I propose some requirements for this, and here's a minimalist first pass at defining them. (Emphasis on "minimalist" and "first pass"...) Requirements: Forms-based or combination of form/WYSWIG interface for creating submission step(s), including the ability to change * The number of metadata-entry pages * Which fields appear on each page, and their sequence * Labels, prompts, hints, and other text associated with each field * List(s) of available choices for each menu-driven field Also desirable are similar capabilities for customizing the upload, verification, and license steps. Discussion: The above is a bare-bones proposal, so please suggest additional (or argue for fewer!) requirements for this proposed change. The more suggestions, and the more specific they are, the more likely we'll be to come up with a specification programmers and GSoC folks -- see "Submission Enhancements in DSpace" at https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/GSOC/GSoC+2011+Projects -- to consider and act upon. > Deposit Interface > ----------------- > > Key: DS-164 > URL: https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-164 > Project: DSpace > Issue Type: New Feature > Reporter: Charles Kiplagat > Priority: Major > > Suggestions included: a web interface for altering input-forms.xml, being > able to select an input form "on the fly" based on the type of item being > deposited, a web interface to the Configurable Submission System, eliminating > the need to restart the server after changes to input-forms.xml and the > Configurable Submission System, allowing more configuration (e.g. > input-forms.xml, Configurable Submission) and command-line actions (e.g. > batch imports) to be pushed down to community and collection administrators, > allowing metadata specific to an eperson (e.g. name, metadata fields to > exclude) to be stored in that eperson's profile, It was noted that the lack > of a web interface to many DSpace configuration files means that repository > managers who are not also systems administrators may not be able to configure > their installations fully. -- This message is automatically generated by JIRA. - If you think it was sent incorrectly contact one of the administrators: https://jira.duraspace.org/secure/Administrators.jspa - For more information on JIRA, see: http://www.atlassian.com/software/jira ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Achieve unprecedented app performance and reliability What every C/C++ and Fortran developer should know.
