Dear Joseph

I don't know which DSpace version you are using but assuming you use version
1.7 or higher, Dspace contains an embargo module.
More information can be found in the DSpace Manual:

Yours Sincerely

Christof

Subject: [Dspace-devel] Is there a way to change an item's policies on import
based on either a metadata field or some sort of flag

Dear DSpace Developers,

I am developing an archive for an archaeology lab where some of the items are
deemed "sensitive" by the collection owner. (Usually if they contain pictures
of human remains or artifacts involved in burial ceremonies.)

It is usually very clear in the metadata if an item should be declared
"sensitive".
I'm looking for someplace to insert a boolean check that would then change the
item policies such that only members of the "Sensitive Data Viewer" group could
see the item.

I know that it is possible to create complete separate collections and have
them "Dark" to most viewers, but I would rather keep them in the original
collection since those arrangements have additional meaning for the
archaeologists using the archive.

Does anyone have an idea where I could insert this check? Or is there some
other mechanism already in place that I may be overlooking?

Thank You,
Joseph
