Hi Folks,

With the current 1.8 code, has anyone had any problems with DSpace freezing
after using the UI for a few minutes?

At the moment, I'm having a problem where if I start DSpace and interact
with the UI (JSPUI in this instance) for a few minutes, it will eventually
hang, and no more responses can be got from the server. I have tried
attaching a debugger to the tomcat instance sometimes with success and other
times without (connection to debug socket refused), but no requests to the
interface are making it through as far as the servlets themselves, as far as
I can tell. The DSpace logs show nothing, either. A tomcat restart will
fix the issue for a short while.

This came up while testing the new swordv2 interface, where occasionally the
API would stop responding. After fixing a couple of minor (probably
unrelated) issues to do with improperly tidied up contexts, the problem
remains. I assumed this was a subtle bug in swordv2, but now I find that I
can replicate it entirely by using the JSPUI, which might suggest a core
DSpace issue. Once the problem occurs, all DSpace interfaces are
unavailable (i.e. if JSPUI freezes, XMLUI no longer responds), which
indicates either a common services issue, or a tomcat problem, I think.

Tomcat version is 7.0.14.

Any ideas out there?

Cheers,

Richard
