After taking a look into this issue I came up with the following. The issue
occurs when the "org.dspace.app.xmlui.aspect.eperson.AuthenticateAction" is
redirecting to the context path. So for instance switching on the
"xmlui.user.loginredirect" property in the dspace.cfg worked for me, the
sesssion would not be lost in that case.
I also noticed then when I redirect to for example /profile if I went back to
the home page the session would also be lost (going to other pages would still
work however). So could this perhaps be an issue with how the home page is
constructed in the XMLUI ?
Did some further research in the home breaking our session & found that when I
go to "http://localhost:8089/dspace1x/"; the session will remaing but when I go
to "http://localhost:8089/dspace1x"; (withouth the trailing slash) that my
session is lost.
