Hi Eric,

Thanks for getting in touch. DS-722 sounds like an ideal little project,
however the JIRA issue gives the solution already, which means this just needs
testing, and then committing to the central source code repository by one of
the DSpace committers.

If you want a project that might take a little longer (nearer the two weeks you
have), then I'm sure we can think of something, and if we don't have a JIRA
ticket already open for it, then we can open a new one.

One issue I've seen requested is for the ability to create DSpace users from
the command line. At present, one of the first tasks that is performed when
DSpace is installed is to create an admin user. This user can then log in to
the web interface, and create other users. It would also be nice to be able to
create normal (non-admin) users from the command line, so that they can be
created for automatic tests, by scripts, or for some other purpose.

If this sort of thing sounds interesting, get back in touch, and we can open a
JIRA ticket, and help you out with getting a copy of DSpace up and running, and
making code changes ready to submit a patch.

Thanks,

Stuart Lewis

All the data continuously generated in your IT infrastructure
contains a definitive record of customers, application performance,
security threats, fraudulent activity, and more. Splunk takes this
data and makes sense of it. IT sense. And common sense.
