Hi Joseph: OpenSearch gives you this ability (an RSS feed based on a search encoded in the feed URL). All you have to do is expose it in the UI. That is, have UI-level code translate a user's search into an OpenSearch URL and put that URL into the results page. Alternatively/additionally, you could publish pre-defined search URLs, based on the collection content, etc
If you need further pointers, I could mock something up, but I think this gives you the general approach..
