The Solr based statistics, originally contributed by @mire, will receive the
following features & improvements in the new release:
* Upgrade to solr/lucene 3.5
* Sharding of the solr statistics index to one solr core for each year
** This will enhance the performance
** Changes to the Solr database will only be committed to the current year solr
core
** Existing installations can be migrated easily to the sharded deployment
* Statistical information on the workflow. Both the old static workflow and the
new configurable workflow are supported
** Tracking the frequency of executing workflow tasks
** Includes filters over time, by community/collection
* Statistical information on searches & search results
** Popular search terms, their number of occurrence and the ratio to the total
search terms will be logged and displayed
** Includes filters over time, or by community & collection
** Statistics also track the number of item views per search term
