Tim Donohue commented on DS-1224:

Hi all,
Ivan is correct, unfortunately the Affero GPL v3 license does not meet with our
current DSpace Licensing guidelines.
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/Code+Contribution+Guidelines#CodeContributionGuidelines-LicensingofContributions
There are a few options I can think of regarding this code...
(1) Assuming none of the code itself is under the GPL v3 license, we may be
able to accept the current code. But, we would *NOT* be able to redistribute
the citeproc-node software. Instead, institutions wanting to use it would need
to go download citeproc-node separately (and accept its Affero GPL license) and
install it alongside their DSpace install, before enabling this export feature.
One other thing to note: We'd need to update all Java class packages from
"gr.ekt.repositories.dspace." to "org.dspace." as well.
(2) The other option would be to make this into a separately installed,
third-party addon which would be installed separate from DSpace.

> This new feature, that has been developed for DSpace 1.8.2, provides a
> mechanism for exporting the DSpace items metadata in many different formats
> for representing bibliographic references, such as RIS, BibTeX, EndNote,
> IEEE, APA, Harvard, etc. This functionality can be added in the single page
> of an item, in the search results page, in the collection page and in
> community page, so a user will have the capability of exporting the metadata
> in these different levels.
> Attached you can find the patch file, a readme file with details about the
> configuration that needs to be made and a third party software
> (citeproc-node) that is expected to be installed.
