Hardy Pottinger commented on DS-1143:
-------------------------------------
I'm wondering if anyone who has encountered this error might be able to confirm
here some of their environment details? We are running on RHEL5, 32-bit, with a
PAE kernel, so the machine can address more RAM. We are also using Oracle Java
6, which is a bit long in the tooth. So, I'm looking at migrating to RHEL6,
64-bit, and using Java 7 (probably OpenJDK), to see if perhaps just an upgrade
to our hardware and Java stacks will have an impact on this intermittent error.

> Our repository runs on 1.7.2, I can't confirm this issue for other versions,
> as it is intermittent. There have been a couple of reports on DSpace-tech
> regarding this error message (Java.io.IOException: No such file or directory
> error) cropping up at random, usually on file upload attempts. See:
> http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=28946233
> I have recently seen the same error when I was running an ItemUpdate from the
> command line. I will attach two stack traces, forwarded by one of our
> repository admins. Nothing immediately leaps out from a quick scan of them,
> however. My intention is to have a place in Jira where we can attach more
> stack traces, and see if we can maybe figure out what the problem might be.
