I suspect this was "accidentally" resolved when we upgraded Solr to 3.3.0
(DS-980) for DSpace 1.8.0.
I can verify that this used to be an issue, by looking up the old
"dspace-solr-1.3.0.2" in our SVN archive:
https://svn.duraspace.org/dspace/modules/dspace-solr/tags/dspace-solr-1.3.0.2/src/main/webapp/WEB-INF/web.xml
But, as Ivan notes above, it is no longer an issue in the current codebase.
I'm going to link this ticket to DS-980 and mark as "resolved" as of 1.8.0
(which is when DS-980 was committed).
