Tim Donohue closed DS-476.
--------------------------

    Resolution: Answered

In DSpace 3.x, this is mostly resolved by Discovery:

* Search: Items which you don't have access to are now hidden from search
results (if Discovery is enabled)
* Browse: Items which you don't have access to *WILL* still appear in "Browse
by" displays, but you only see the Title. Clicking on the item brings you to
an "Item Restricted" page and no other metadata is shown.

Based on the improvements in 3.x, and the discussion above (which suggests this
is not necessarily a "bug" but rather an misunderstanding on how READ
permissions work.

Several Committers discussed this today and decided to close this old ticket.
We suggest opening a new Feature Request if there's improvements individuals
suggest on making this work better.
