Tim Donohue commented on DS-1531:
---------------------------------
Hi James,
I'm not sure I fully understand the exact issue and the "temporary" fix that
you applied. Do you happen to have the error message, or the line numbers in
the code which are causing problems? It sounds like you've done a good amount
of work already in tracking down the problem...I'm not sure I understand which
area of the codebase you are looking at. In general, it helps to provide us
with class names and/or line numbers if you know them. (Hint: You can also
easily link to specific lines of code from GitHub.)
Also, if you have a fix (temporary or permanent), definitely let us know.
> bug in current DSpace (3.1) with log importing
> -----------------------------------------------
>
> Key: DS-1531
> URL: https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-1531
> Project: DSpace
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: Statistics
> Affects Versions: 3.1
> Reporter: James Halliday
>
> Importing log files using DSpace 3.1 appears to be broken.
> I was having problems with importing old log files using the command-line
> utilities, with a null pointer exception related to metadataStorageInfo. It
> looks like this is related to JIRA DS-1248. The StatisticsImporter class is
> grabbing metadataStorageInfo, which is null because it’s no longer being
> initialized in SolrLogger.
> As a temporary measure I just commented out the offending code in
> StatisticsImporter and recompiled, but a quick search revealed other classes
> that still contain refs to metadataStorageInfo.
