Some changes are required to use the new API (HTTPSolrServer) from solrJ as changes to schema.xml and solrconfig.xml files
SOLR 4.1 will enable also some refactoring mainly in the statistics area to take advantage of the new solr join features but these refactoring will be proposed in a separate issue to allow easy review
