There are other tickets related specifically to enabling video/audio streaming in DSpace (See DS-1115).
The Item page already has a "summary/description" field in the form of an Abstract. You could format it differently using a custom theme.
In addition, there are concerns about letting submitters enter their own custom HTML (as a hacker could use it as a way to hack DSpace -- it could be a major security issue). For Communities & Collections on an Administrator can enter this HTML, and they are more "trusted" with those capabilities.
