The function *as delivered to the client* contains a raw left broket. In the source it is properly encoded, but XSL-T is decoding it. The decoded text is rendered into the content of an HTML element, and brokets are significant in HTML content.

Replacing "<text disable-output-escaping='yes'>" with "<text>" or removing the <text> tags altogether results in a page which does not fail HTML validation at that point. (There are still ten errors and a couple of warnings on the home page, but the output is improved.)
