Considering the remainder of that section, is this not then already addressed? OTOH I'm still unsure why we take the trouble to fiddle with private caches, instead of attempting to resolve these from the system cache using the system catalog. We'd need to provide a resolver to SAXBuilder, and Apache XML Commons has one: http://projects.apache.org/projects/xml_commons_resolver.html. Then just install schemas in the catalog, if they aren't already there, so that all XML applications can use them.
