I've changed all uses of the (now deprecated) single-argument encode method to the two-argument encode method, explicitly specifying UTF-8 as the encoding scheme. There were a couple of spots in XMLUI that were using this call too.

After a browse by author/subject, it's impossible to see more than 1 page of results if there is a special character (accent) in the author or subject.
To reproduce the problem :
1. browse by subjet
2. choose a subject with a special character and more than 20 results :
( e.g. for the moment : http://www.epsilon.insee.fr/jspui/browse?type=sub...
