We discussed this feature request during the DCAT (DSpace Community Advisory Team) meeting today. Based on experiences of individual members of the group, we feel that DSpace and repository managers only come into play after processes that may include plagiarism checking. Shorter, DSpace is mostly used in the group to archive the final versions that have already been vetted and established by others. However, we do agree that such an integration in the submission workflow would be very useful in a context where these processes ARE implemented in DSpace and where repository managers ARE involved. We just think it may not be something that currently affects many users in the community. In thinking about plagiarism and discussing this, we did find another use case that we would like to suggest: What if repository managers could easily make their repositories accessible as a reference source to the plagiarism services you mention. We believe this would give incentives to the institution as a whole, scholars and students to put up content in the repositories: making your work very visible to plagiarism detection services and therefore actively contributing to avoiding plagiarism. Because it's slightly off topic, since it addresses another use case, maybe this belongs in a different ticket. Unless the original requester no longer needs the integration with the submission form and wishes to change the scope of this ticket.
