There is an external tool for batch loading currently under development: https://github.com/Georgetown-University-Libraries/batch-tools Yes, it's PHP, and yes, it currently calls out directly to PostgreSQL for some data... Terry Brady is working on refactoring the code to work with the new DSpace REST-API. But, if this is an itch you want to scratch, I'm sure Terry would appreciate more collaborators.

In order to better support Repository Administrators in their duties, we should see if it'd be possible to allow for some batch import actions to be performed via the Admin UI.
