Hello all,
We found why all the webapps are terminated and the reason is that this line is executed:
https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/blob/master/dspace-api/src/main/java/org/dspace/app/itemimport/ItemImport.java#L765
Initially ItemImport.java was only used to import items from the command line, and a System.exit() call made sense, but the code has been reused in version 4.0 in order to import items from the UI. We are currently investigating possible solutions to this problem, that would permit us to leave unchanged the behavior of the command line tool while handling gracefully exceptional situations arising from the UI.
