We have an intern here at @mire who has been doing work on the french message catalog, adding the missing keys from DSpace 3 and DSpace 4.
I just uploaded his latest version on demo.dspace.org, you can try it out there:

One thing I immediately noticed was that the "recently added" title is not internationalized yet. But this might be a general problem and not one related to this particular language file.
