Discussed briefly today in a JIRA backlog session.
While these changes sound mostly good, I personally do not like the new mockup as it adds a *third* column. The DSpace XMLUI only ever has a 2-column layout on every other screen. So, it's odd to suddenly create a 3-column layout just for Community/Collection view.
If this mockup was changed so that the Community/Collection header info was again in the main column (just above the list of items, where it currently sits), then I think the rest of the changes sound reasonable.
