In setting up a new staging server, I've had occasion to watch the output of the catalina.out log file, and I've seen this message scroll by a few times today: INFO: validateJarFile(/home/dspace/dspace/dev/dsmaster/webapps/solr/WEB-INF/lib/jsp-api-2.1.jar) - jar not loaded. See Servlet Spec 2.3, section 9.7.2. Offending class: javax/el/_expression_.class I mentioned this message to Mark Wood in IRC, and he replied "Yes, Solr should not be including jsp-api. That one should be <scope>provided</scope> as the specification says the engine will provide it." This is probably a simple fix, we just need to change a config file in our Solr webapp.
