I think 'Message $key is not translated.' is kind of long to display
$key translation undefined - is slightly shorter than
maybe do the explanation as a tooltip ?
$key <div title=“this key is not defined in the Message.properties file”>??? </div>

it is annoying to have to recompile everything - just because I mistyped a key in a I18nUtil.getMessage call
returning the key itself should be visible enough in UI -
or at least this should be an optional behavior when debugging
will send in PR with code
