Hello DSpace Developers & DCAT members,

At the OR14 Developers/DCAT Meeting in Helsinki, several folks expressed
interest in seeing JIRA ticket updates sent to a separate mailing list.
Currently, as you may be aware, any JIRA ticket updates are auto-sent to
the dspace-devel mailing list.

It seemed like the main reasons for a separate (JIRA-related) mailing
list are:
* Some would rather not see all the JIRA notifications (as general
developer discussions sometimes get "hidden" amongst the stream of JIRA
updates), or may want an easier way to filter them out
* Others want to see just the JIRA notifications without having to
subscribe to the dspace-devel mailing list (as not all JIRA tickets are
developer specific, obviously)

In my opinion, these sound like reasonable reasons for another mailing
list. But, before I go into the work of creating yet another DSpace
mailing list, I wanted to leave this idea open for general
comment/discussion from all of you.

If you have any thoughts on this (pro or con), please respond to this
thread on either the DCAT or dspace-devel list (it has been cross posted
on both lists). I'll leave this thread "open" for one week (until Tues,
July 1) for discussion/feedback, at which point we'll make a final
decision on where to send JIRA notifications.

Thanks!

Tim
