Hi Na Lin,

Proquest metadata is in the Marc-21 format, right? Or does it already allow
exporting in some other intermediate format?
In any case, technically it shouldn't be a problem, with the correct XSL
transformations.

I found out that Shawn Averkamp and Joanna Lee at the university of Iowa
Libraries took a stab at this (http://journal.code4lib.org/articles/1647 ),
for use of the data in a Bepress repository.
Apart from the mapping, they experience some field specific challenges (all
caps title fields, date formats, ...).

In DSpace 1.6 or higher, you can get the metadata added if you can get it
into a spreadsheet (comma separated value) format. So if you find other
tools that go from Proquest data, to CSV, that might also get you there.

Hope this helps!
