Hi, I am Leif Longva, repository manager of Munin, the IR of the University of Tromsø, Norway. We have currently two DSpace instances, and soon we will have three:
1) Our IR is just recently upgraded to run on v 1.6.2 with xmlui (http://uit.no/munin). We have not considered further upgrading to 1.7 yet. 2) A submission portal for theses and dissertations is running on 1.5.2. This is used for master and doctoral theses submitted for examination. After they've been approved, they are transferred to our IR DSpace, unless the authors ask us not to. (Released in 2007 on 1.4, and presented at DSUG in Rome 2007: http://hdl.handle.net/10037/2335 - later upgraded to 1.5.2. 3) High North Research Documents: A new search service in the making, on research relevant to the High North. This was presented at the DSUG in Gothenburg 2009 (then with the working title of NAROS - the project has had a slow progress, but now finally we have the funding for it): http://dsug09.ub.gu.se/index.php/dsug/dsug09/paper/view/9 We have just decided to test the use of DSpace 1.7 for this search service. One reason for this choice is that we already carry much knowledge on DSpace inhouse. For the group -- does anyone else have more than one DSpace instance at their institution, and why? I'm a software developer based at the University of Waikato in New Zealand; I'm responsible for development and maintenance of four different institutional repositories for the Library Consortium of New Zealand. I haven't been in this role for more than a few months, which means I inherited all four repositories. I think the "older" ones went live around 2008 and the "newest" one early in 2010. Currently, three are on 1.6.1 and the fourth is on 1.6.2; all are on RHEL 5.5. There are no immediate plans to go to 1.7, though an upgrade to 1.7.1 (if it's been released by then) is tentatively scheduled for after Easter. Two of the repositories use XMLUI, the other two use JSPUI. We have a whole bunch of customisations of code and user interface, mostly around embargoes but also for usage statistics. cheers, Andrea -- Andrea Schweer IRR Technical Specialist, ITS Information Systems The University of Waikato, Hamilton, New Zealand -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Protect Your Site and Customers from Malware Attacks Learn about various malware tactics and how to avoid them.
