We are currently looking to implement DSpace for Digital Collections here
at Rowan University. I am writing to find out some aspects of
implementing DSpace. I hope members of this group will be kind enough to
answer some or all of these questions. Please note that I have never
managed a tomcat server, so any helpful hints you have with that task will
be greatly appreciated as well.
1.) What is the system architecture you are using?
- What flavor of Linux or other OS are you using?
- What version of Dspace are you using?
- Which database are you using? PostgeSQL or Oracle?
- Is the database server on a dedicated server?
- Which storage architecture are you using? Traditional Local file
storage or SRB? Why?
- Do you use Apache HTTPD with mod_jk?
- What authentication scheme do you use? LDAP? Shibboleth? other?
2.) What type of, and how many, resources do you have in place to manage
DSpace?
- System Administrators
- Developers?
- Project Managers?
- Collection Managers?
3.) How long did it take to implement DSpace at your institution? From
planning to public release.
4.) What type of training was performed to end users?
5.) How many collections/sub-collections to you have? Do you have any
tips on managing/organizing collections?
6.) Do you have a link to your Dspace for us to see?
I am sure I will have more questions, but this will get me started. Thank
you in advance for any information you can provide.
