We are using ABBYY FineReader, and although I have also had the problem you
describe, I haven't found anything that does a better job.

Subject: [Dspace-general] OCR software

Could anyone share with me what OCR software you are using? I'm looking for a
good OCR software that can produce accurate results from Tiff/jpeg
images/files. Currently, we are using ABBYY FineReader but not happy with it,
for it won't allow us to control the layout of the text that we key in where it
fails to recognize.

Thanks,

Shixing
