Thanks to those in the community who participated in last week's call on the
DSpace Futures initiative on metadata improvements.

Here is the link to the notes from the call:
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/DSpace+Futures

We invite everyone in the community to add their feedback on the proposal in
the comments section at the bottom wiki page:
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/Updating+the+Qualified+Dublin+Core+registry+in+DSpace+to+the+latest+standards+of+the+DCMI.

The meeting affirmed there is community interest in updating the Qualified
Dublin Core registry in DSpace to the latest standards of the DCMI. The DSpace
developers on the call confirmed that Phase 1 of the proposal should be fairly
straight forward to accomplish.
DCAT has been leading the effort so far, but because of implications for all
DSpace users more help from the community is needed. DCAT is seeking developer
resources as well as those with an interest in metadata to join in the Phase 1
effort as well as refining plans for the subsequent phases. If you are
interested in participating please either email [email protected] or
identify your self on the wiki page
(https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/DSpace+Futures).

We look forward to helping the community move this forward!
