Hi Eric, all the major browsers are supported by DSpace. If you want to verify a particular combination of a DSpace version and a browser, use our Jira [1] to search for any bugs by the browser name and restrict the "Affects Versions" to your DSpace version. From a quick look I don't see any browser-specific bugs related to searching in DSpace 1.8.2.
