One of the best things that we've done at Illinois is to enable our DSpace
instance to query Active Directory Groups so that for the most part, groups are
managed via Active Directory rather than by the internal DSpace E-Group
structure.
That said, we have not done much work to clean up E-Groups where they exist
except on request of the community administrator.

Subject: [Dspace-general] Managing E-groups
We are currently in the process of cleaning up our e-groups for a number of
different collections. Over the years, we have inconsistently added users, or
just added users rather than adding them to groups. Has anyone documented best
practices for managing e-groups?
Thanks,
Shannon
