Dear Jeffrey,
Would you please summarize for the list? We have several similar requests, but
no policy in place to handle these cases.
Thanks
Susan

Subject: [Dspace-general] External Communities/Collections
I should like to ask academic institutions to respond to the following
questions regarding your DSpace use for non-affiliated groups/users using your
DSpace installation. We are being asked by an outside group to house their
newsletters and minutes (a statewide association). The only association with
us is the fact that one of our faculty is a member and acting as the contact
person.
1. Do you allow outside groups to have access to ingest materials in your
DSpace installation?
2. If yes, do you have MOU (Memorandum Of Understanding) that sets the
parameters by what you will provide and what is expected from the guest
institution?
3. Do you have a charge-back for this? That is, do you charge outside
affiliations a set fee? Is the fee based on storage use or by each ingested
item?
4. Has this caused new precedents to be set on your campus for using DSpace?
5. Would you be willing to share your links for these collections for us to
peruse?
Private responses welcome.
Thanks in advance. Cordially,
Jeffrey Trimble
