As a Librarian I value Authority control, but when it comes to self-submission
and student work how have you been able to handle that?
What system are you using to connect for the Authority file?
What happens when someone wants to submit something and either their name or a
subject isn't in the system? What is the next step?
I really like the idea of Linked Open Data and connecting our authors to say
VIAF(Virtual International Authority File) or some other Maintained standard
but just haven't seen this in action and any real best practices...
